With a foreword by Pauletta Washington (wife of Academy Award winner, Denzel Washington), and written by a Black female Ob-Gyn, sections of Chapter One include "Is it Still 'Open Season' on America's Black Women?" "A Lifetime of 'No Respect' is Not Funny." "Societal Stress and Black Women's Health: The 'Rejection Connection.'" "Ethnic Health Disparities," and "Facts and Stats of Living Black." The media is challenged to examine the images of Black women they put forth.
Chapter Two is full with updated medical information, including heart disease, diet/exercise, fibroids, infant mortality, cancer and HIV/AIDS--including "Is He on the 'down-low'?"
The Sex section begins with 'Sexual Healing, Reclaim the Feeling.' It explores sexual dysfunction, sexual hang-ups, STDs and closes out with a treat of love poems.
And the Happiness section discusses marriage statistics for Black women, interracial dating; how some men need to "man up" and how some ladies need to stop hurting their own lives. Beauty topics include care of the skin, hair and plastic surgery is presented; also information about Alzheimer's, dementia and depression in Black women. The last chapter provides "What Black Women Must Do to Survive, Thrive and Stay Alive in the 21st Century"; also "Life Lessons" for your daughters and a "prescription" for the community going forward.
